SiGNS THAT YOU HAVE FOUND THE REAL DEAL:
- They have a webcam vid saying "Welcome to my YouTube" etc, and they actively post new and recent shout-out vids (wherein they say your name / other fans' names on camera).
- Their featured vids autoplay on their profiles' front pages. This is a sign of official YouTube partnership, and most celebs become YT partners to make their accounts official as well. NOTE: It has come to my attention that some posers are using an autoplay hack to try and pretend like they are a partner. Do not be fooled by their cheesy attempts! Being a partner also means gold-bar ads in every video, square ads above every summary, and a banner on every vid and on the profile pages! YouTube would not accept lame posers with copyright-violating material posted so don't fall for this scam, it's common sense, really!
- Their YouTube pages / etc are linked FROM their official sites (like http://mileycyrus.com for example) and their official MySpace profiles.
If any suspected poser insists on NOT doing any of these acceptable proofs, then they are just making excuses to further their illusion. Do not be fooled, as for any real celeb, these acceptable proof steps are as easy as snapping their fingers.

SiGNS THAT YOU ARE DEALiNG WiTH A POSER:
- They have no webcam vids, for any of the following reasons that they claim: That they actually don't have a webcam. That their webcam is broken. That they don't want to use the account for talking vids, just for written words. These are all just EXCUSES, meant to trick you into falling for their lies.
- All of their webcam vids (as well as official music videos) are stolen from other YouTube accounts or fansites or private profiles from other network sites that originally uploaded those vids. Usually the quality is also craptastic, a major common sign of vids that have been stolen. Ditto for personal pics.
- They are desperate for the attention of "their fans". Any real celeb is simply too busy to beg fans to comment and interact with them, and they all prefer spending what little free time they have, with their REAL friends. Posers on the other hand, get a thrill out of hearing fans' excitement over connecting with them. This is sad and wrong!
- All of their "textvids" are made with Windows Movie Maker (or worse.. OneTrueMedia!). Cuz you kno, a top-level celebrity is using the cheapest editing program of all, to make a lame "textvid" instead of just using a cam and their super editor for actual video shoutouts, uh huh.
- In addition to lame "textvids", they also have a thing for *slideshows* (also made with WMM!). With pics that ANYONE could get simply by searching Google. And they like to call this "proof". Can we get a LOL?
POSERS ARE LOSERS! Who *I* am / why I started this page: I have been dealing with many posers over the years, from even before the internet became as huge as it is now (since the mid-90s). Back then, things were even less trustworthy, as there were no easy video services! Posers relied on *emails* to trick fans, and they also hung out in various chat rooms trying to get young fans to talk to them. Over ten years later, the sudden popularity of sites like YouTube and MySpace make it even more possible for posers to deceive even more fans, especially when kids are getting access to the net at even younger ages these days. Also, there are too many amateur pages that claim to want to stop posers as well, but they are not only full of typos (a sure sign of someone too young to be attempting such serious business), but also they tend to accept those cheap slideshows as "proof", instead of demanding proper video shout-outs (the ONLY acceptable proof next to the YouTube partnership signs and links from the official websites / MySpaces). And so *this* page was made in order to start getting the facts out. ~*~
LEGAL INFO: If you are posing as someone else, it is considered ** IDENTITY THEFT **, and is a form of FRAUD which is punishable by law. You may think that you are being anonymous, but ANYTHING that you do online can be tracked and will be if and when the person that you have been posing as, decides to have you investigated. So be warned!
NOTE: All claims of non-posing from "personal" public accounts can only be verified with a "video shoutout" of the actual person stating the link of the account in question. If that video is not provided as a result of any poser-cliché excuses, the question still stands and so does the suspicion, *until* the video becomes available. Sorry for any inconvenience it may cause you or anyone else; but the protection of fans comes first and foremost at all times.
