Acoustic Music from Japan

East meets West, traditional Zen music meets Jazz. In 2004 Japanese Shakuhachi player Taro Matsumoto and Swiss Jazz pianist Roger Walch started to perform together and instantly found an unexplored musical niche. The fascinating and unusual combination of Japanese bamboo flute and piano captures both the Japanese and the Western audience. The duo's repertoire is an interesting mixture of Japanese traditionals, selected Jazz standards and powerful original compositions. Taro Matsumoto and Roger Walch have been giving concerts all over Japan, performing in jazz-clubs, concert halls and temples. Their acoustic music is emotional, playful and expressive. In summer 2006 they completed a very successful concert tour through Switzerland.
Taro Matsumoto and Roger Walch have released two albums on Japanese label Stubborn Record: "Live" (2006) and "Immortal Remains" (Autumn 2008). The CDs are available through their website.
