Shakespeare at the Tobacco Factory (SATTF):
Launched in 2000 with King Lear and A Midsummer Night's Dream, SATTF sprang from the conviction that there was a great appetite among theatregoers to see Shakespeare professionally performed by large casts in an intimate space -- a conviction borne out by the sell-out audiences the company now enjoys in the Tobacco Factory's 260-seat studio theatre.
The company has quickly established a position as the leading producer of classical work in the South West, achieving both a national and international reputation, and now plays to audiences in excess of 22,000 annually.
SATTF's Bristol productions have transferred to theatres in London, the South West and Ireland. We have co-produced two widely admired productions with the Bristol Old Vic, Uncle Vanya in 2009 and The Misanthorpe, 2010.
