@dutico Trust your intuition. It is a shocking thing for any parent to hear, but if they really love you, they'll stick by you. Be yourself, but more importantly, be there for HER. Let her know that her child is still her child whatever she calls herself - and she will in time accept it.

Transition leaves us very vulnerable - not only to others but to the depths of our own selves. But that is really the only way of growing and coming to know yourself, to think for yourself. Its hard, but so worth it, and even beautiful - hidden somewhere between the tears.

@jennifers0love Mmm yea, if you can't tell your family then it does kind of hinder how "real" it can be. You already know who you are inside, but the whole point of transition is to externalize that inner self. But I can say that once people start accepting you for who you are, start calling you ...

JK, but I figured I'd say something to break up the well-deserved endless stream of compliments. I enjoyed this... and damn the 4080 is one funky looking instrument.

@desireeT01 This is the optimistic outlook I try to keep, even just for my own happiness and sanity. This is my channel for discussing issues related to my male-to-female transition. As much as I hate labels, the label I most closely identify with is Bigender Pansexual. I am transitioning because I feel that the female image and mode of expression most closely mirrors my internal image and identity, but I do believe that a balance of the anima and animus is essential, and I'm not interested in disregarding everything which is deemed to be masculine (most of which, by the way, is culturally arbitrated). I am finally presenting full-time as female, though I've not yet started HRT (my plan is to start on my birthday in January).
Gender aside, I am a fine art photographer and I am a junior in the photo program at Mass College of Art. It is a wonderful program and the people are very open, kind and accepting. I do quite a bit of urban photography using both medium and large format cameras, and have a strong bias towards analog capture and printing.
I love music. The deeper and more complex the better. Tool, Rush, and Porcupine Tree are my favorites. I play bass, but kind of suck at it :/
I enjoy philosophical issues and tend to look at the wider implications of things. I don't much care for established paradigms of thought, I'd much rather tackle it with my own mind, even if I turn out to be completely wrong.
@FirehouseMike Love that idea. Kind of makes you rethink the presumed pathology behind something like schizophrenia.
