They concentrate on original Rock and Funk-Rock, mixing in crowd-favorite covers into their repertoire from the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Our Lady Peace, Led Zeppelin and Rage Against the Machine.
In their home town of Calgary, Shades of Gray has built up a loyal following. Along the way they have performed in numerous venues ranging from large arena-type locations such as the MacEwan Hall Ballroom (equivalent to Vancouver's Commodore Ballroom), the Maxbell Arena, the Calgary Sun Center, and The Gateway, as well as many clubs and bars around the city: Ceilis Irish Pub, Sambuca, The Grey Goose Lounge, etc. The Band's playing did not go without notice as they consistently achieved the top spots in various competitions, to name a few: 1st place in The Annual Central Memorial battle of the bands, 2nd Place the Yamaha/Supernova Last Band Standing Finals, 2nd Place at the Virgin Rock Music Competition, and 2nd Place in the War of the Worlds battle. In addition, Shades of Gray was recently featured on City TV's program "Wired" as one of Calgary's successful bands. In 2005 the band has taken the University of British Columbia by storm, ready to spread the word around Vancouver's music scene.
The band has released numerous recorded projects over the past five years, including "Sauce Town Rabbit", "Are You Questioning My Gear" and "Party in a Can".
