Yes, it's motion-based. But it can also see non-moving targets. Kinda hard to explain - really just anything that is different from the stored background counts as a target. Anyways, good luck with your own projects!
The way i did it was by making a solid block of wood, a few inches thick, then drilling large holes into it at angles, and inserting the ends of 3 pieces of copper pipe into the holes for legs. I held the pipes in with screws. Hope that helps!
