I am a pacifist Eritrean willing to do anything I can to bring peace to our region. I believe in respect and equal partnership. Let this be a people movement to end animosity perpetuated by few people. What did the first TPLF leader Musie know to us Eritreans as Mahari Tekle known as Wedi Tekle envisioned. What did Ibrahim Afa? A treaty signed with blood, to build our countries and to support each other and to not let outsiders invade or dictate our peoples interest.
--------------the book's theme---
The theme of the book is that the stragle of Ras Alula to gain a land he can administer. Alula had no royal blood, and tigray was filled with aristocrats who were intitled to administer land but they were too many so many of them were forced to almost live as a regular farmer. Nonetheless, Alula was favored by Yohanis, and the aristocrats were jelous and hated him, but the general public of Tigray loved Alula. Similarly, King Yohanis trusted and loved Alula and Yohanis knew Alula can not topple. Alula wanted a land he can call his own, since Tigray was taken he wanted hammasen, but hammasen had a ruler thus he started planning to oust raesi weldemichael. But yohanis did not like the idea of Alula administereing ammasen, Yohanis was a religious and honest man and he knew hammasen belonged to raesi weldemichael. Alula sued Raesi weldemichael but his claims were not believed by the King, so yohanis called for a second hearing. In the second hearing Yohanis declared that Raesi Weldemichael was not conspiring to invade the Axum empire, but Alula had no believable proof to support his accusation so he asked King Yohanis to either choose him or choose raesi weldemichael, yohanis knew he can not servive with out allula so he imprisoned Raesi weldemichael although he knew raesi weldemichael was not at fault. That lead to the rebelling of raesi weldemichaels heir, who went to Italians and lead them to occupay Eritrea. But King Yohanes wanted an Empire, kind of federated country in todays terms. Present day Eritrea was ruled by Ras Woldemichael, Present day Central Ethiopia by Ras Minilik, and The souther and western Ethiopia by another Ras. THe three Ras wanted to be kings, so whenever they think they are stronger than Alula's Army they declare that they are kings of their own section of the kingdom. Then Alula would come fight them and make them beg for mercy. The three rases were trying to get support from anybody they can. There was no communication between Minilik and Ras weldemichael simply because there were Tigrayans in the middle. Ras weldemichael, again due to the advantage of his strategic land was able to communicate and get help from Egyptians then Italians. Minilik would have done the same but he did not have access. Finaly, when King yohanis died, Minilik got access to italians who were then in Eritrea. And he agreed to all the trade and the border that the italians wanted as long as they recognize him as a King. So they did. Allula falsely accused Raesi weldemichael, Minilik Gave italians eveything they wanted, and Raesi weldemichael received help from eryptian's, his successor sided with italians to fight allula..I respect all, they all did what they had to do to be the strongest in the region. They had no plan to divide, but to be strong enough to rule the whole empire.
