FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS (FAQ)

Q : Why don't you do voice commentary in your videos?

A : While I do own a microphone, I'm not what you can call a "natural" commentator. English is not my first language, and while I type english relatively well, I do not speak english at all in real life. So my actual talking in english would make for poor commentary. I don't think people would be very interested to hear someone that searches for her words all the time and/or hesitates due to not knowing how to word something, etc. Also, a lot of people prefer to hear the regular game's music over people talking.

Q : What emulators do you use?

A : RockNES for NES, SNES9x for SNES, ePSXe for Playstation.

Q : Wait, you play on emulator? Cheater!

A : I play on emulator because I have no way to record from my own TV. I do not cheat. I do not re-record segments to make them look amazing like TAS videos do. In some games, I stop the recording and start over from the start of the stage (or the start of the cup for Mario Kart), but that's as far as it goes. I don't strive for perfection.

Q : Why is the sound not in sync with the video?

A : Blame YouTube. Seriously. When I watch my video files through VLC Media Player (my video player of choice), the sound is perfectly synced with what's going on in the screen. It often loses that sync when I upload it to YouTube, and it's certainly not my fault, unless it's due to some setting I have no idea about, or because I shouldn't play music or browse the net while uploading or something like that, and even when I tried disabling every single unneeded program while uploading and having my computer otherwise completely idle, it still did it. So yeah, don't blame me. x_x

MY YOUTUBE ACCOUNT UPDATES

November 9th 2011 : Just today, I became eligible to obtain revenue from ads in my videos. I don't know what the requirements are for that. Needless to say, I will NOT abide to that. As your everyday YouTube user, I know I dislike having to see ads, and I wouldn't want to make people go through that to watch my videos either.

September 26th 2011 : I uploaded my last Mario RPG Armageddon video and will cancel that playthrough. The brand new version just came out, with a ton of changes over the beta version I was playing. I do not plan to make a different playthrough however.

January 1st 2011 : I had to remove a lot of my older music videos. Sorry. x_x

August 16th 2010 : I officially cancelled my Mega Man 5 playthrough as the rest of the videos that were recorded back then were in the same old quality while I can avoid that entirely now thanks to the new computer. Sorry...

August 10th 2010 : GRAND news! I have been gifted a brand new computer, for my birthday. A *much* better one. That means I'll be able to record GOOD quality videos from now on! My deepest thanks go to my girlfriend, Sara, for this wonderful gift... and to Emily, one of our friends, who helped a lot with it.

August 1st 2010 : Two things. First of all, I changed the name of all my video game playthroughs, replacing "LP" for "Seijin Plays". This way, there is no more confusion as to what kind of game videos I upload. A lot of people consider that LP = commentated, and I don't want to create confusion or to receive unpleasant comments related to that anymore. Secondly, I created a new playlist where I upload "fail" videos. The name says it all. Basically, they're videos where I failed to get the results I wanted to get (dying, losing a race, whatever the game considers a failure), yet that I considered the final result to be interesting enough to watch. Said videos wouldn't fit well in the main playlist for my LPs, so I thought it would go in a separate playlist. I got this idea recently during my Super Mario Kart playthrough, so older failed attempts were deleted already, of course. But from now on, I'll keep failures if I think it was interesting enough somehow.

May 28th 2010 : I added an "FAQ" section. I answer various questions that I've been asked in the past, or that I think I might be asked in the future.

(Older changes were purged to save space. Why is there a character limit at all here anyway?)
About Me:

I am 27 years old, female, from Quebec in Canada. I speak french in everyday life, but I'm in an english environment since years on the net, which helped my english a lot. I do not actively *speak* english however, so I'd have a bit of trouble speaking it aloud.

I am a very emotional person. My mood can easily be disrupted by the slightest thing. I can go from happy to depressed, sad to cheerful, excited to lethargic, in a matter of seconds.

I don't really have a life. I don't go to school or work or anything. I hardly ever go out. I have no friends in real life, although I have a few friends on the net.

I am also lucky enough to have a wonderful girlfriend. Although our relationship is only on the net for now, we plan to move together as soon as we can. I love you, Sara.

VIDEO GAMES

I was always a big gamer. I don't play console games often anymore ever since I got a computer (since June 2004), but I haven't completely stopped or anything. I like mainly older video games. Here are the video game systems that I own.

SNES : The main video game system I grew up with when I was a teenager, and still play on occasion. Lots of classics.

Games I own : ActRaiser, Brain Lord, Breath of Fire, Doom, ESPN Baseball Tonight, F-Zero, Final Fantasy 2 (American), Final Fantasy Mystic Quest, Ken Griffey Jr's Winning Run, Might & Magic III : Isles of Terra (I own that one twice :p), Robotrek, Secret of Evermore, Super Mario All Stars, Super Mario Kart, Super Mario World, The 7th Saga, Urban Strike, WWF Raw.

Games I once owned but lost/broke : Donkey Kong Country 2, Mega Man X, Street Fighter 2 Turbo, Super Mario RPG, Super Mario World 2 : Yoshi's Island, Tecmo Secret of the Stars, The Legend of Zelda : A Link To The Past.

NES : I still own the system but I sold all my games around 12-13 years ago. I still regret it to this day.

Games I used to own : Double Dragon 2, Mega Man 2, Super Mario Bros + Duck Hunt, Super Mario Bros 3. And a bunch that I just can't remember at all, it's been so long.

Playstation : I still own that system and still play it regularly.

Games I own : Breath of Fire 3, Civilization 2, Final Fantasy 7, FF 8, FF 9, FF Origins (FF 1 & 2 remakes), FF Tactics, Gran Turismo, Gran Turismo 2, Kartia, Monster Rancher Battle Card Episode 2, Saga Frontier, Star Ocean 2, Tecmo's Deception, The Granstream Saga, The Legend of Dragoon, Triple Play 2001, Twisted Metal 4, Wild Arms, Wild Arms 2, Xenogears.

Sega Saturn : I do not play it anymore. I think the internal memory card thing died, and I never had a regular memory card.

Games I own : Panzer Dragoon, Shining Wisdom, Virtua Fighter, Virtua Fighter 2.

Game I used to own but lost/broke : Daytona USA, Virtua Cop.

PC : I have a few PC games as well. MMO games fall in this category for simplicity's sake. For a list of my Steam account (which shows all my Steam games), I put a link at the very beginning of my channel description.

PC Games : Chessmaster 9000, Chessmaster 10th Edition, Need For Speed 2 : Special Edition, NFS 3 : Hot Pursuit, NFS 4 : High Stakes, NFS 5 : Porsche Unleashed, NFS 6 : Hot Pursuit 2. And a ton of games on Steam, see the link at the beginning of this description.

MMOGs : Champions Online (2011), Elsword (2011-2012), Grand Chase (2010-2011), Hello Kitty Online (2009), Nostale (2007-2010), Ragnarok Online (2005-2012), Star Trek Online (2011-2012), Trickster Online (2007-2011), Wonderland Online (2008), Zodiac Online (2010). And a few others in passing.

OTHER

Outside of video games, I'm also a chess nut. I used to play chess tournaments in real life, between 2004 and 2007. I still play chess on the net occasionally, and own several chess books.
Country:
Canada
Occupation:
Translator
Companies:
I like the company of people in general, haha... Okay, that wasn't funny.
Schools:
School of Hard Knocks
Interests:
Video games, chess, anime, music...
Movies:
Both TOS and TNG of Star Trek, The "Pirates of the Caribbean" trilogy, the "Back To The Future" trilogy, The "Naked Gun" trilogy, The Green Mile, K-Pax, Princess Bride. And comedy movies in general.
Music:
So many genres. I like some music from pretty much every genre there is, from pop to hard rock to metal to techno to rap (very little of that though), and so on. However, I mostly listen to video games and anime music. I tend to prefer calm, smooth melodies the most, but I have quite a lot of upbeat stuff in my playlists as well. ^_^
Books:
The Drows trilogy (Forgotten Realms). I remember I loved reading that years ago. I also like to read various chess books.

I only played Fire Emblem 4 and 5, so I cannot say.
darkjackl999 (11 months ago)
what's your opinion on the newer fire emblem games such as ones with ike n marth compared to the ones from before sacred stones
personally i preferred the older ones as the fight animations were more fun to watch and i found them a bit more of a challenge especially sealed sword fighting pre-promotes earlier on in the game is annoying
SeijinMahoutsukai (1 year ago)
Another game I like lately, which has a Metroidvania style to it (to an extent) is called Aquaria. It's pretty much fully underwater, as the name suggests, the music is omgamazing, fitting the underwater theme, and I find it just beautiful and peaceful to play. I tend to find 2D games more beautiful than 3D games, and this is a good example of a beautiful 2D game.
