Talkin' 99% Blues
Words and Music by Von Johinhttp://www.vonjohin.com/Von...http://www.livestream.com/V...
I went to the park just the other day, folks standing 'round with a lot to say
Holdin' signs and shoutin' and answerin' back
Then the policeman came put'em under attack
Cue the pepper spray, swing the Billy clubs, get out the handcuffs
They been lookin' for work and couldn't find none, lookin' every day from sun to sun
Wall Street folks closed the factories
Shipped them jobs from here overseas
Make more profits, screw the workers, how's your EBITDA?
Millions of folks can't find jobs, man on they Fox News called them slobs
Said they don't even know what they're talking about
Called on the governor to throw them all out
Peaceful protests, interrupted, how about that 1st amendment?
From city to county to country to state, folks 'round the world hope it ain't too late
Instead of helpin'out, call'em hippy or freak
They must think that the rich inherit the meek
What would Jesus do? Join the protest, or vote Republican?
Now the way I see it these folks just wanna eat, and they wanna work and they just wanna be free
But the 1% that's in control
Don't take too kindly to that you know
They say tax the poor folks, don't give'm no health care, bring back child labor!
Yeah they actually said that.
Well it ain't just here this thing done spread, folks 'round the world had enough they said
The rich get richer so the rest of us can't
Now they wanna bust up the unions down at the plant
Oh now, it's the Tea Party, the John Birch Society! They're callin'us a commies, callin'us socialists!
Everything but American.... Fellow American
Now all I know, somethin' gotta give, when the middle class just can't afford to live
Losin' their cars, losing their spouses,
Losing their dignity, losing their houses
30 years of Trickle down economics, rainin' down on the masses, don't smell like rain
