About this user

Sean Sebastien Duhaime was born in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada, February 24th, 1991. He became interested in music and began playing guitar at age 15 because of rock groups, Deep Purple and King Crimson. His big influence of music is Fusion because of so many great guitar players like Allan Holdsworth, Frank Gambale, Scott Henderson, Shawn Lane, Wayne Eagles, Guthrie Govan, etc. He studied with his brother, Justin (a 4th year university student in the Music Program/teaches at Melinix Academie and for the City of Ottawa) for guitar lessons and jamming as a duo playing jazz. At age 17, he joined Jam Clinic to find bands easily. At the clinic, he met great Ottawa jazz musicians, Dave Shroeder, Alex Mastronardi, Brian and Jeff Asselin. After the Jam Clinic, he joined Shine Academy and played in a jazz and fusion band named Fusion All Stars with Josh Lalonde (bass), Lesley McNaughton (drums), and Daniel Ko (alto sax). They studied with trumpet player Kelly Craig. During his final year of High School, he joined the Jazz Ensemble, they played at the Music Fest and they were awarded the gold medal, and they also played at the the Ottawa Jazz Festival. After graduating High School, Sean decided to expand his horizons and started a self-named jazz/fusion trio, the Sean Duhaime Trio. He became a composer, arranger, bandleader, and sideman. Ottawa professional musicians who played in his trio and special guests included Vince Rimbach, Tom McMahon, Charles Gay, Philippe Charbonneau, Mark Fraser, Marc Decho, Lucas Haneman, Danielle Allard, etc.
