Dejay Rider was born and raised in San Diego. Not long after he began making music he received the unfortunate news that he had cancer. A small lump on his chest had quickly evolved into a detrimental affair, but still he would not allow this speed-bump to affect his positive outlook on life. He practiced for countless hours and continued to progress as a musician. Rider used marijuana to remediate the pain and stomach sickness - "It took away the nausea - as soon as I took that bong rip I felt f***ing amazing!"
In addition to impeding nausea, the weed helped Rider fall asleep. "It wasn't just feeling sick and not sleeping. When you're going through chemo your stomach gets hard and makes you not want to eat. A couple bongloads and I had the munchies." Not only did marijuana settle the stomach, help induce an appetite, and aid in catching some z's, the sativas (mellow, uplifting "sativa" strains vs. powerful, couch-potato "indica" strains) also helped stimulate and energize Dejay Rider.
By the end of each round of chemotherapy, Rider had completed a new Dejay Rider Sesh. Each session was completely different, and presented his different personalities and styles.
"They did not have the cure for my illness 30 years ago had they wanted to...so now I am going to use my life to help others, and utilize my partying for the greater good."
Rider would like to donate 50% of his earnings from clothing sales to charity. He will give 50% of his shirt sales to cancer victims and to support cancer research. This is only the beginning...
