In 2007 Young Australia Productions P/L presented the first YAP Awards, open exclusively to short film and digital media (films) entries from South Australian tertiary-enrolled screen students. This was the first screen competition allowing tertiary screen students to compete on a level playing field, rather than in open competition against films with government funds, larger budgets or professional crew.
