@SirBasildeBrush A propos my previous comment, it must have been earlier than 2006 when Ronnie Hilton played it, for he deceased in the year 2001. It's likely he played it for me in the late 1990s, when he would still have been in his 70s. RIP.

@d820m Yes, of course it was ! Thank you for putting me right . I can only think of two records of Dee Clarks's that I've heard, "Hey Little Girl (in the High School Sweater)", and the ambiguously entitled "Just Keep It Up" (!), and I like them both a lot.

It just doesn't get any better than this. The superb Bo Diddley, about 10 years after he made the recording of this, his "signature" song, and here he is in 1965, playing it just like he did in the beginning : just magically well ! What a song, what an artist, and what a group !

It's wonderful to have Micahel's version of this song, and the video to go with it. I remember hearing it away back then and that was just about the time there came the news of his suicide. Since then, I've never heard it played on the radio, yet Floyd Cramer's instrumental version gets regular...

This sounds like the original version, yet with additions to it, such as the clearly audible piano playing. Still very nice.

Such a beautiful song, from the New York Apartment tapes, which, thankfully, Norman Petty got later, and from which, using the Fireballs, he crafted six fine records, which, for me, had the edge over the earlier versions that were the first releases, with, as I remember, the Dick Hansen orchestra...

One of the few songs of his I haven't got on a 45, EPM, LP or pre-recorded cassette, and yet one of his best. I love the zest for life that comes through on this record, in the singer's buoyant confidence that he's going to get this girl, no matter that she's somebody else's meantime !
