Umm.. Karate came from Kung Fu, and it IS a form of Kung Fu. Kung Fu is the first martial art and the man who invented it came to china, learnt the style and system, then returned to Japan where he introduced Karate with the knowledge from his Kung Fu.
There ya go. I know that it is factual because my Sifu told me. I was wondering if it was indeed a form, and it is.
