With a group of archaeologists and students (Archaeological Institute of the University of Basel), I made in November 2005 and March 2007 two expeditions in the Cave of Shapur located in the south of Iran. The colossal statue of Shapur I standing in this cave, was my doctoral dissertation with the title (in German): "Die Kolossal-Statue Šāpūrs I. im Kontext der sasanidischen Plastik", which I published 2009 as a monograph. This short video made in March 2007 shows the Cave of Shapur with the colossal sculpture of the sasanian king Shapur I.

Mit einer Gruppe von Studierenden des Archäologischen Seminars der Universität Basel unternahm ich im November 2005 sowie im März 2007 je eine Expedition zur Schapur-Grotte im Süden Irans. Die in dieser Höhle stehende Kolossal-Statue Schapurs I. war Gegenstand meiner Dissertation mit dem Titel "Die Kolossal-Statue Šāpūrs I. im Kontext der sasanidischen Plastik", die 2009 als Monographie veröffentlicht wurde (Verlag: Philipp von Zabern, Deutschland).
Dieses kurze Video, welches ich im März 2007 aufnahm, zeigt die Schapur-Grotte mit der kolossalen Skulptur des Grosskönigs.
