Dental stem cells offer hope for the future

For Gregory Chotkowski, a former oral surgeon whose son suffers from muscular dystrophy, the idea of harvesting and preserving stem cells from the dental pulp of newly extracted teeth is pretty much a no-brainer. As a practicing oral surgeon, I became aware of the fact that I was discarding healthy stem cells on a daily basis, and that people need access to these stem cells, Chotkowski said.
