truthm0nsters Matthew does not say that the women saw the angel roll the stone back. After stating that the women set off for the tomb, Matthew then relates the earthquake, which happened while they were still on their way. Verse 2begins by saying, 'There was a violent earthquake', the Greek of which carries the sense of, 'now there had been a violent earthquake'. Therefore, the answer to this question is that the stone was rolled away when they arrived: there is no contradiction.

You can believe the bible is the word of God if you like, but you cannot say the bible doesn't contradict itself as it clearly does. For example, Matthew's gospel tells us Jesus's tomb was sealed with a stone when the women came to annoint his body, and describes how there was an earthquake and an angel descended and rolled it away. The other gospels tell us the stone had already been rolled away before the women came to the tomb. This is a contradiction. Both accounts cannot be correct.

truthm0nster, This is a Christian channel, and as Christians we believe the Bible to be the Word of God. The Bible 1) Doesn't contradict itself and 2) Doesn't contradict any genuine scientific discovery that has been correctly interpreted. Man is fallible don't forget, God is not, so where the two do not agree it isn't God who is wrong.
