About Me:

A bespectacled, opinionated critical religious humanist and a more than slightly misanthropic pseudo-socialist Red Tory (try saying that three times faster), Sappho is the youtubing alter ego of the infamous Biscuitnapper, a curious mix of contradictions and personality dysfunctions. If you don't know what to make of it, just imagine what it's like for her.

Hi again, howz u? One thing about the Christian faith which has ALWAYS baffled and nonplussed me (ever since my childhood in Norwich back in the 1970s) is this: Do devout Christians believe that Jesus Christ actually was/is the omnipotent, omniscient, omnipresent and all-seeing Deity who created the universe ...... or do they believe that he was the (only begotten and dearly beloved) SON of this all-powerful, all-knowing Creator God?

As any good, God-fearing Muslim would tell you, it makes no sense at all to assert that Jesus Christ was/is Almighty God Himself, and was/is also the SON of this Almighty God.

(I hasten to make it clear that I am not a good, God-fearing Muslim - or even a BAD Muslim, for that matter. I am a non-religious person, who has no belief whatsoever in The Christian God, The Muslim God or the Jewish God.)

There was nothing to worry about, your post wasn't caustic by any means.
Thanks for stopping by.

If the "all-good" and "all-loving" God of Christianity really does exist, how can He permit - much less create - encephalitis, cerebral palsy, brain cancer, multiple myeoloma, leprosy, Aids, Alzheimer's disease, and numerous other horrific illnesses which have killed millions of men, women, teenagers and children, many of whom were decent people?

I wasn't familiar with Feser, If I do refer to re-explorations of Aquinas/Augustin, I stick to MacIntyre and Pieper though Willmoore Kendall is a wonderful demonstration of how to apply method to (fairly) modern Conservative quandaries.

Now I have to admit that it does pain me to hear a fellow Thomist (or at least someone able to appreciate the merit of the western tradition) fail in understanding the weight of islamic precepts and history. But understanding what is right is more pressing than knowing what is wrong lest there be nothing to conserve, so I suppose I can forgive you ;)

If I am a good Christian and I die and my soul goes to Heaven, but my wife and kids are atheists and end up in Hell, would Heaven really be Heaven for me knowing that my loved ones will be in Hell-fire for eternity?

(That is a hypothetical question, by the way, as I am NOT a believer in the Christian religion. Moreover, I am a single guy, and do not have any children.)
