I still don't get why people take the tactical light. It gives you away when you turn corners and you will always blind your team more than the enemy. Even when it does blind, you can just aim for the light source.

The point is more that the Protoss look identical to the Tau. The Protoss in function are like the Eldar, but, most likely, Starcraft needed very distinct appearances for the races. Since Necrons wouldn't make sense and Blizzard already put Orks into Warcraft, they chose the Tau.
