In the 1970s, the St. Blues seed was planted across the street from Elvis's Graceland at Mike Ladd's Guitar City. Guys like Jimmy Page brought their road-worn and busted guitars in to Ladd and Tom Keckler and something special happened; the instruments came out better than they ever were.

In 1978, Keckler left for California to help Tom Anderson and David Schecter turn Schecter Guitar Research from a parts supplier into a guitar company. But anyone who's ever lived in Memphis knows you can't stay away forever. A handful of years later, Keckler was back, partnering with music store Strings & Things, where the St. Blues brand was born in 1984.

The first St. Blues guitar was the Bluesmaster, and sometimes you do it right the first time. A unique instrument that stands tall with the best in the business, Bluesmasters made their way into the hands of players like Eric Clapton, Albert King, Bono and Billy Gibbons.

Taking a break in 1989, the St. Blues Guitar Workshop was reborn in 2006, with Keckler back at the wheel. Today, every guitar is finished and set up right here in Memphis, with deep roots in hallowed ground.
