About Me:
 
Saiedah, meaning happy and fortunate in Arabic, was born into a mixed family in Manhattan, New York. Since early childhood, she has had a fascination and love for Egyptian culture. At the age of 14, she witnessed her first belly dance performance. Hypnotized from start to finish, something within her was awakened. She realized that she was born to belly dance. It became necessary for her to delve deeper and learn more about the art of Raqs Sharqi- The Dance of the Orient. Every aspect of Egyptian belly dance was researched then incorporated into her performances. After eight years of vigorous practice and experience, she has gained a strong understanding of Arabic music and the process of translating every instrument into physical movement. Saiedah is predominantly self-taught, very much like the Egyptian dance pioneers before her. She was strongly influenced by Fifi Abdo, Soheir Zaki and Soraya El-Khouby of New Jersey. All of her performances consist of elaborate Egyptian costumes with glitzy sequins and beautiful, long beaded fringe that compliment each shimmy and shake of her dance sequence. All selected music pieces are lively and able to stir the spirit. Egyptian Raqs Sharqi focuses on utilizing the art of improvisation. Saiedah is one of the very few artists that improvises while maintaining strong technique and displaying subtle yet exquisite emotion. She listens to the music carefully with no inhibitions, creating a powerful connection to the music. The result is a beautiful, lively and authentic interpretation of the haunting and evocative music of the Middle East. She leaves audiences spellbound with her dynamic and powerful interpretation of the music.

This style is very Egyptian and vintage with a modern twist. It transports audiences back in time to Golden Era of belly dance..."The good ole days" for many Middle Eastern natives.

Saiedah is available to perform in upscale venues and respectable events(Weddings, corporate events, casino shows, posh restaurant events, theme shows,select festivals, hotels, etc.) in New York and New Jersey.
