I'm 31, gay (and in one of the Bible-humping red states no less!) and open about it. I'm very opinionated. And, more than anything else, I hate religion. Universally. I think the idea of religion is the single most horrifying innovation of the human experience. And I say so. Often.

See, here's the thing: Religion is the act of someone else telling you "this is how the universe works, this is what you're supposed to believe, this is how you're supposed to act and live." Spirituality is the act of finding those answers within yourself.

I believe that people should think for themselves. I do believe in a creative force, my God. I believe that my God created me to be exactly the person I am. My God created me, gave me the wonderful parents I have, introduced me to my amazing boyfriend of five years, and has given me the incredible gift of self-understanding and freedom of thought.

I truly believe that if more people came to their own conclusions about life and the universe rather than buying into the garbage force-fed to them by two-thousand year old scrolls and con-artists claiming to know all life's secrets, this world would be so much more amazing.
