This is my second solo for the Mapex Drumheroes competition. I am uploading it now so I have it ready in the event I manage to make it to the top five!

This video proved to be quite a challenge for me as I tried to incorporate, for the most part, new ideas. I used most of the patterns I would normally use to solo with in the first video, so I wanted to do something a little different.

Here is a vague breakdown of the sections in the video:

1. 3/8 left foot pattern played between the hi-hat and clave. I play against this before going into a linear pattern with my right side, leaving my left hand open for improvisation.

2. 7/8 foot pattern that is played LRRRLRR across four pedals. I play some simple patterns over top, a shuffle, and a mambo. This section was particularly tough for me, and it shows in some slipups in the continuity of the foot pattern.

3. Transition into hertas. That's right, the pattern is called a herta, not a Meshuggah, or a Bleed by Meshuggah. :-P

4. Paradiddles on the feet, with an inverted paradiddle with the hands, and ending with a 5/8 against 7/8 over the paradiddles.

5. Improvised soloing with a couple mistakes :-)
