What I thought wasn't mine In the light Was a one of a kind, A precious pearl
When I wanted to cry I couldn't cause I Wasn't allowed
Gomenasai for everything Gomenasai, I know I let you down Gomenasai till the end I never needed a friend Like I do now
What I thought wasn't all So innocent Was a delicate doll Of porcelain
When I wanted to call you And ask you for help I stopped myself
Gomenasai for everything Gomenasai, I know I let you down Gomenasai till the end I never needed a friend Like I do now
What I thought was a dream A mirage Was as real as it seemed A privilege
When I wanted to tell you I made a mistake I walked away
Gomenasai, for everything Gomenasai, Gomenasai, Gomenasai I never needed a friend, Like I do now
Gomenasai, I let you down Gomenasai, Gomenasai, Gomenasai till the end I never needed a friend Like I do now

Young Star contemplates future of Hannah Montana
The Last Song, or, Hannah Montana vs. Human Mortality
Miley Cyrus is a phenomenon and a superstar and a notable icon of North American Have It Your Way-ism, but she is not an especially talented thespian. As star of The Last Song, a melodrama written by Nicholas Sparks, the scribe behind The Notebook and A Walk to Remember, she does okay with surly teenaged charm and even with the weepy scenes, but scenes of dramatic confession and confrontation have an uncomfortable deadness.
Its not Cyruss fault, of course, that Sparkss dialogue is so lifeless, so full of icky nonsense platitudes. The writing is so unrepentantly tossed-off that whenever characters reveal an intense emotional event from their past, they seem to speak in outline form. A kid makes a dramatic confession about accidentally starting a fire, Well, we were behind the church, just playin around, and, and drinkin, and then we started... Pause. Authority figure, Playing with fire?
'Tween television shows teach their young stars bad habits: they're shot quickly, in blocky group shots that forego close-ups, and the cast learns to bully their lines because the laugh track will always deliver a gag for them; it's a safety net that disappears on a film set.
In her coming-out performance after several lucrative years as Hannah Montana, 17-year-old Miley Cyrus does her best in The Last Song, but the romantic melodrama ultimately doesn't give her a great deal to work with and what remains is bludgeoned by overt sentiment.
Cut from the usual cloth of a Nicholas Sparks novel (Sparks also co-wrote the screen adaptation), where the guy and the girl meet on a southern beach, a building is restored and love is an endurance test culminating in the slow death of a supporting character, The Last Song casts Cyrus as Veronica ''Ronnie'' Miller, the rebellious daughter of divorced parents sent to Georgia to spend the summer with her pianist father, Steve (Greg Kinnear). The shirtless boy who must gaze adoringly at her and earnestly declare, ''You're not like the other girls'', is played by Neighbours graduate (and Cyrus' boyfriend) Liam Hemsworth.
Mood montages ... Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth. The movies used to make teen stars, such as Molly Ringwald, but now they're a finishing school whose students aren't ready. Cyrus pushes out her lower lip and snaps at everyone until her character, a piano prodigy, is ready to grow up, and even then Kinnear, an understated actor who must do much of the heavy lifting as the repentant father with a terminal illness, struggles to find anything genuine in their scenes together.
Oddly enough, Cyrus is at her best playing sarcasm, and with her grating voice and natural instinct for kvetching, she has a future ahead of her playing the nutty best friend in romantic comedies. But she won't be starring in them.

I can almost see it That dream I'm dreaming but There's a voice inside my head sayin, You'll never reach it, Every step I'm taking, Every move I make feels Lost with no direction My faith is shaking but I Got to keep trying Got to keep my head held high
There's always going to be another mountain I'm always going to want to make it move Always going to be an uphill battle, Sometimes you going to have to lose, Ain't about how fast I get there, Ain't about what?s waiting on the other side It's the climb
The struggles I'm facing, The chances I'm taking Sometimes they knock me down but No I'm not breaking I may not know it But these are the moments that I'm going to remember most yeah Just got to keep going And I, I got to be strong Just keep pushing on, cause
There's always going to be another mountain I'm always going to want to make it move Always going to be an uphill battle, Sometimes I'm going to have to lose, Ain't about how fast I get there, Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb
There's always going to be another mountain I'm always going to want to make it move Always going to be an uphill battle, Sometimes you going to have to lose, Ain't about how fast I get there, Ain't about what's waiting on the other side It's the climb
Keep on moving Keep climbing Keep the faith baby It's all about It's all about The climb Keep the faith Keep your faith
