About Me:

'You say you want a revolution - Some Velvet Morning have quietly been subverting the accepted lyrical content of the 'indie scene' since the release of their 2007 debut 'Silence Will Kill You.' With songs such as 'Propaganda' 'Godless' and 'The Madness Of Crowds', vocalist and guitarist Desmond Lambert does not seem content to stick with the normal pop fodder of teenage crushes and heartbreak, preferring instead subjects such as religious tolerance, western political indoctrination and McCarthyism.

Brother Gavin Lambert's now legendary distorted bass lines, when meshed with the 'primal' beats of drummer Rob Flanagan (prompting Total Guitar into enthusing that the band 'packed more clout than the Black Keys and Black Crowes on a sleaze fest bender) all add up to a power trio with no room for mediocrity.

In addition to live dates in Russia, 2007 saw the band support the US release of their debut album with a tour of the East Coast including a CMJ appearance in New York as well as their TV debut on Fox. Despite its limited availability in the UK, 'Silence Will Kill You' received a 'Debut of the Year' nomination from the highly respected radio station XFM. The station also playlisted both singles from the album, 'Losing My Mind' and 'Propaganda, with Steve Harris and John Kennedy setting the trend for Bob Harris and Alex Lester to follow at Radio 2. With continued support on Radio 2, November saw the band perform live on the stations Janice Long Show.

Musical comparisons to early Police and U2's War have swelled SVM's audience, with two generations of rock fans now eager to see the band. Indeed the band has just returned from playing to a 3500 capacity crowd in Bangkok, sponsored by Heineken. They are now recording their second album with rooftop shows and a University roadshow backed by PRS and UK Music scheduled for early 2009.
