The horse is quietly distressed. I spent the last 20 years of my life trying to help horses who have been trained with a Pessoa or other gadgets. It is not right to encourage the building up of muscles because it does weaken also other parts of the horse.

Bending the elbows without receiving energy from behind...... why?
When the rider says "loose in the back, the horse in fact just get stiffer in the back, and just floppy in the neck".. I am not kidded.

The horse needs his neck and head to carry weight on his back. Who are you putting first, you or the horse? Careful young people to to just ride for fun. Always try to think of what the horses feels. :)

Rollkur warm-up in eventing
