Excellence Through BrotherhoodPi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. was founded on February 20, 1994 at Binghamton University, State University of New York, by eleven men from various backgrounds (Chinese, Japanese, Korean, Filipino and Vietnamese). Already established leaders within their own university sponsored cultural organizations, these men assembled to devise a structure that would create an understanding between the various Asian cultures, build relationships extending beyond the academic years and most importantly, find and build an individual's skill sets. These eleven men envisioned an infrastructure that would continuously motivate and challenge individuals. This infrastructure of a fraternal society, which has been around since 1776, would become the building blocks of their endeavor. The eleven men were responsible for architecting the guiding principles, which have now developed into one of the nation's largest Asian Cultural Interest Fraternities.
By 2000, Pi Delta Psi had expanded to 11 prestigious campuses spanning four states, setting a record for the fastest growing organization of its kind since inception. With a fierce growth in the brotherhood and a strengthened alumni base, the fraternity rebuilt its National Council in 1999, standardizing Pi Delta Psi throughout all its chapters.
Today, the fraternity continues to grow in size and prestige. What began as a dream for the eleven founders, has become the work and dedication of hundreds across the country and across seas.
Chapter History:
In the fall of 2008, twelve dedicated individuals from unique backgrounds, Jeremy Jara, Calvin Eng, Joseph Son, Raymond Lin, Vishal Bal, Eric Eng, Kevin Chung, James Lee, Gary Luo, Andy Meng, Jason Wong & Eric Wong, came together under one common goal: to unite the Asian American voice at St. John's University. By bringing Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. onto campus, men of all backgrounds and upbringings could experience the mutual bond of brotherhood, not only during college years, but also for the rest of their lives.
On November 8, 2008, the twelve inspiring men succeeded in dominating their endeavors and challenges, and stood proudly as one strong. Since then, Pi Delta Psi Fraternity, Inc. at St. John's University has been reversing the stereotypical images of Greek life, as well as overcoming cultural barriers, by upholding the all-important pillars of the fraternal organization: academic achievement, cultural awareness, righteousness, and friendship/loyalty. With the goal of promoting Asian American awareness on campus and in the community, Pi Delta Psi hopes to break down the obstacles of racism and discrimination, and to unite people of all cultures as a whole.
