上海爵士乐团，是中国第一支正式注册成立的爵士大乐队，成立于2005年12月。乐团成立后在短短的两年时间里先后在艺海剧院、上海音乐厅、商城剧院、东方艺术中心成功举办了新年音乐会、爵士莫扎特纪念音乐会（星期广播音乐会现场直播）、爵士普及系列音乐会、世博会800天倒计时音乐会。同时，还应邀参加了中外知名企业举办的年会、展会、宴会等演出。上海爵士乐团的演出形式分大乐队和小乐队两种形式，演出曲目包括爵士经典、中外名曲改编曲、上海老歌及原创作品。目前，乐团正在为2010年世博会筹备演出节目。
Shanghai jazz Orchestra (SJO) is the first jazz music performance group in shanghai, which is privately funded. There are two styles of performance: Big Band and Combo. The Big Band contains 17 musicians; and Combo can be combined freely from 4 musicians according to request.
SJO held a successful New Year's Jazz Concert as it's first performance in 2006. The international channel of CCTV reported a special program for this concert. On April 9th, 2006, SJO held a special concert for 250th anniversary of Mozart's birth at Shanghai Concert Hall —— Jazzy Mozart. The highlight is to play those classical pieces of Mozart's by Jazz Big Band. It's the first try even in the world. Shanghai Oriental TV Station and Radio Station broadcast the concert live. In June, China Government Website expressed the news regarding SJO's series music promotion concerts.
Now, SJO is working on a Jazz musical, which is about the history of Shanghai in 100 years. Hope it will be performed during the World Expo in 2010.
