'SHINee' is a contemporary band made up of five members: Jong Hyun, Min Ho, Tae Min, O New, and Key. A contemporary band is a group that presents and takes lead of the music, dance, and fashion that fits the current trend. Like the title 'contemporary band,' SHINee will continue to present their unique trendy music as well as their contemporary dance and fashion.
The name SHINee is a coined term that added the suffix '-ee' to the word 'Shine', to be interpreted as 'the one who is in light.' In this case, the 'light' means 'spotlight,' and it also reflects the team's great aspirations to attract a wide range of fans through pursuing various kinds of music regardless of region or generation.
