That is wood debris in the lake and if you noticed in the picture he said it was way out in the lake, well the picture is showing it about a foot off shore. there is alot of logs around the shoreline of Lake Superior laying in and out of the water.

Great video, this is north of Knoxille going onto Jellico Mtn. I drive this route many many times driving from florida to michigan. I am usually in this area in the early evening just before sundown going north, and in the night hours going south.
