About Socio-Cultural Environment of Business in India
Socio-Cultural Environment of Business is a course done by the first year students of the Indian Institute of Management Ahmedabad. The course is aimed at increasing awareness of students about the plight of people marginalized by the "market" and who live in the fringes of society. By providing such awareness, it is hoped that future managers and leaders think about how their decisions affect the marginalized members of society.
Visits to different industrial estates, NGOs etc. were an intrinsic part of the course. Students who went on these visits interacted with the affected people and made visual records of what they saw. These visual records combined with analyses by students were made into short films.
