I wish the novels were available in english. The anime isn't terrible, but it cut out so many things and parts of it are left really hard to understand as a result.

It was confusing because two relatively long light novels adapted into a 6 episode anime. They had to cut out a *lot*, unfortunately.

I've read the books and they cleared up a lot for me, but they were still depressing. ._. Also not translated, unfortunately.

@AceNoctali I got it for Index, not knowing that you can't get Misaka till you beat the story... but for what its worth, playing the game got me interested in Toradora. XD

@ANDl23W IIRC, the in-universe excuse for this is that the majority of men were enlisted as grunts a long time ago, leaving few to voluntarily sign up for the advanced training required to be a pilot. Male pilots do exist, but they're in the minority.
