Welcome to New World Ape's Youtube page

Since its Santa Cruz based inception in 2009, New World Ape has created a sound and musical statement that is exciting, powerful, and uniquely their own. Led by pianist/keyboardist/composer Michael Glick, this 8-piece band features purely original music propelled by its hard hitting rhythm section, its orchestrally arranged 3-piece horn section, and its dense guitar and keyboard textures. The band achieves an overall sound that combines elements of afro, latin, funk, jazz, classical and rock, creating an interactive musical experience that moves your body and soul. The music is consistently hard driving, danceable, energetic, emotional, and most of all, uplifting.

"Present Day," New World Ape's debut album, released April 2011, features Gary Meek (Dave Weckl, Airto Moriera, Flora Purim) on Soprano and Tenor Saxophones, and Sylvain Carton (Aphrodesia, Beats Antique) on Baritone Saxophone.
