So here is all the info on it:

*You must complete Desmond journey

*You must collect 30 Animus Data Fragments (it unlocks the journey stuff)

Desmond Miles is an Outfit (like Old Altair) therefore can't wear armor and all you have to do is unequip the armor via inventory to go back to Ezio.

I beat the game, however, I redeemed the code before I beat it, just never got the sword. I mnow you have to find the book to activate the mission then an icon will appear on your map, make it a checkpoint, and goto it.
