LeBron James is in my opinion the best basketball player in the league today (NOT all time...Dont get it confusedl). Many people disagree and with good reason considering Kobe Bryant is still in the league and still playing at a high level, but with the amount of time LeBron has been in the league and the amount of things hes done I cant grant Kobe a pass just because he has 7 seasons on LeBron. I have provided a brief summary of my thoughts on LeBrons performance. Anyone who wants to bring up Kobes name will be directed here:
"Kobe has scored 50+ on 13 different teams who were above .500, LeBron has 6 50 point games but none against a winning record."...When Kobe was at the stage of his career that LeBron is in right now (6th Season) he had 2 50 point games and they were against a Golden state team who won 17 games that year and a Memphis team who won 23 games...LeBron has 50 on a .500 team, the Utah Jazz were at .500 when LeBron dropped 51 on them (1-21-06) and they also finished the season at .500.
Being a better JUMP shooter does not make a player a better shooter overall, Lay ups, dunks, jumpers, finger rolls, etc. are all shots. When talking about better shooters use the correct terms and stop trying to mislead people with the term "better shooter"
"LeBron sucks at defense"...There are multiple types of defense and most dont get respect from the fans like they should (Note Shane Battier) if you think LeBron sucks on defense watch a Cavs game then talk to me. LeBron has never been a terrible defender and this year he is probably one of the top 5 defenders in the East.
LA beat Cleveland both times they played this year, it wasnt a one on one game. Also there is only ONE way that will have any affect come playoff time and thats if they end the season with the exact same record and play each other in the Finals...Then LA would have home court advantage, otherwise the regular season is irrelevant once the playoff teams are determined. Winning in the regular season is necessary to get to the playoffs but once youre there it is a completely different game that neither LeBron nor Kobe have been able to master yet.
"Kobe is the closest thing to MJ, LeBron might be as good as Kobe someday but he has a long way to be mentioned with those two"...Stop it! Neither LeBron or Kobe have done enough to be mentioned with MJ. Career wise Kobe is better than LeBron, that doesnt automatically burst him into being mentioned along side the greatest of all time.
As of right now this season all the Eastern teams combined have an average win % of .510...The West has an average of .490. The East has 3 teams under .400, the West has 6. Every team plays the teams in their conference 4 times each so the teams in the West get to play those sub .400 teams a total of 24 times this season (thats once every 3 games...3.4 rounded because you cant play half games), the East teams will play their current sub .400 teams a total of 12 times this season (or once every 7 games). So for every "easy" team Cleveland plays the West will get to play 2+. 3 of the top 4 teams in the league are in the East along with the Pistons who have been to 6 straight ECFs...Also notice who won the championship last year, it was a team in the East.
"LeBron only plays for stats thats why looks better on paper"...Dont kid yourself, LeBron has an all around game. He gets assists because he plays a "Point Forward" position meaning hes the best decision maker with the ball on his team and he has the ability to find open teammates while also trusting them. He gets rebounds because he is so big and strong yet still one of the fastest guys in the league. He is capable of out jumping the smaller guys going for boards and he is faster going up against the bigger guys while matching strength for position. LeBron is possibly the strongest SF in the league and the fastest, that plays a big part in his ability to get to the ball. Scottie Pippen had a season of 20+ pts, 7 rebs, and 7 asts...No ones dogging him for playing the point forward position so well.
These are not "excuses" they are facts, check them for yourself if theres anything you disagree with...Im sure there will be more topics which I will get to when they arrive but for now Im tired of typing.

Bush, who appeared almost playful, fastened the heavy medal around Muhammad Ali's neck and whispered something in the heavyweight champion's ear. Then, as if to say "bring it on," the president put up his dukes in a mock challenge. Ali, 63, who has Parkinson's disease and moves slowly, looked the president in the eye -- and, finger to head, did the "crazy" twirl for a couple of seconds.
