About Me:
During 2010 Rosie got through to the Regional Finals of UK Live and Unsigned 2010, the final of Sing For Your Supper 2010, and won the University of The Arts London Big T Talent Show. She also self-recorded her first EP, Full Circle, and performed on several local radio shows including Hayes FM and Brooklands Radio's Surrey Unsigned. Rosie has played at several festivals so far in 2011, including Glastonbury. Her aim is to write and record honest music from the heart that others can relate to, and she can be heard singing regularly at top music venues around London and further afield.
"Rosie Sleightholme's carefully controlled vocals and skilful guitar playing brought a quiet hush and a sense of peace and calm to the auditorium" - Guardian
"Her voice at once conveys that underlying ethereal tenderness, while at the same time showcasing some incredibly powerful and unwavering vocals, striking pitch-perfect notes both high and low with a wonderful fluidity that recalls (a British) Joni Mitchell" - The Music Journal
"WOW What a fabulous performance! Rosie has that undefineable likeability factor and she can sing...Boy she can sing, her voice is deliciously unique and is able to penetrate even the hardest of souls, her songs are 100% original, fresh and inspiring...a star in the making without any doubt" - David Durant, Brooklands Radio
"Eerily reminiscent of Kate Bush at her finest" - Ham and High newspaper
"Rosie has an exceptional voice and really owned the stage, I really enjoyed the performance" - Live & Unsigned UK 2010 judges' comments
"You are absolutely amazing at what you do. The way you approach what you do, the passion of what you do is undeniable. Brilliant" - Pearly Gates, of 60s group The Flirtations, judge at Sing For Your Supper 2010
"Her mesmeric voice often discards the folky, blues-ridden influences of her predecessors, lending her fractured, intricate songs a new vituperative edge...this lady is definitely one to catch" - The Oxford Student newspaper
"On 'Conflicted' chanteuse Rosie Sleightholme sounds like she's had a Janis Joplin lung transplant." - The Devil Has The Best Tuna (music blog)
"The final act that we saw before we had to leave was Rosie Sleightholme, a singer who writes and performs remarkably deep and meaningful songs - one in particular she performed last night focused on her homesickness for England after living in the Far East for some time and its poignancy, combined with her powerful voice, almost had me in tears!" - The Londoneer blog
