Sadly, he's not making this up - this is actualy what I was taught when I was a kid. That is, the bit about how the order of fossils in the geological column was due to the fact that slower/less intelligent species were overtaken and buried first and the faster/smarter species last.

Actualy, vegetarianism/veganism also decreases animal deaths associated with crop production, since it takes more plant matter (as well water, energy, land, etc) to raise animals for human consumpton than if the humans consumed the plant matter directly.

However, I understand and agree with your main point: that it is irrational and hypocritical for creationists to reject science when it conflicts with their ideology, but accept the technology, medical treatments, etc, which are based on the scientific method.
