Even though Latin is today considered a 'dead' language, it has influenced many Western languages. It is the origin of over 60 percent of the words in the English language and, without Latin, the English we speak today would be dramatically different. Even french, the much-touted 'pure' language of Europe, and the language of diplomacy around the world, is a bastard step-child of the barracks Latin spoken by the Roman soldiers occupying Gaul and the market language spoken by the shopkeepers and prostitutes of that region.
The noble language Is the Italian. The pure and clear continuance of vulgar Latin, because the latter, in Italy, was unaccompanied by other tongues.

fanno tutti i perbenisti dei mei ciufoli ma, in realtà, le azioni di sradicamento della cultura italiana in Corsica e Nizza sono paragonabili (in piccola scala) con le azioni dei nazisti fatte in francia... avrebbero dovuto colpire più duro e cancellarli.
