To those of you who don't know, the whole movie IS now available on YouTube. The 1980's were the decade of "big hair," and I think the costumers and hair people let contemporary fashion influence how they did Jessica Lange's hair in the movie. The real Patsy Cline's hair was NEVER that "big" or...

@applesomething Actually, I like this version. It seems like a great deal of the time her voice was running at only "half power," and in this one, she gets the opportunity to really let it rip!

Overdub or not, this demonstrates some of Patsy's great unrealized potential, plus it shows what can happen to a song of any genre when it's performed with full orchestration. Elton John's "Your Song" and the Hollies' "Sandy" both come to mind as examples of this. If only Patsy had lived longer...

@WishesSailorMoon As I said in a previous post, I'd have been reduced to an incoherent blob of something if it was my shoulder. But I also wouldn't say that she "grabbed" his shoulder... it was more like she just rested her hand firmly on it. ;-)

Patsy Cline ~ Tennessee Waltz
Patsy has an amazing version of this heart breaker. What else needs to be said?

Patsy had one of the most amazing voices ever recorded, and she had virtually no formal instruction or training. Her great love was country music, but thank God her managers and others got her to do songs of other types. Ditto on the clothes. In a stylish evening gown you can really see what a...

I think part of the reason they made an inaccurate version of the crash was the simple fact that nobody would be able to see anything if they had done it accurately. It was dark and foggy, and it's very difficult to film a movie under those conditions.

I don't understand why this song didn't become another "crossover" hit. There are no twanging guitars or other elements of C&W.... it sounds as if it has almost full orchestration. But no matter what charts it appeared on, it doesn't change the facts that it's a beautiful song sung by a beautif...
