"Ivan Mater" is a blue tow truck who works for Victor Hugo. He is Victor's personal transportation, towing him place to place. He also serves as a body guard. During the film, when Mater was trying to get McQueen's attention in a crowd, the lemons grab him and Ivan takes his place. Mater disguises himself as Ivan to infiltrate the lemon meeting being held in Porto Corsa to get info. Holley Shiftwell tazes Ivan before this so he doesn't blow their cover. He later regains consciousness and captures Holley. In the end, he is attacked by Mater when he tries to get Lightning McQueen, and is arrested in London with lemon employers.
Most tow trucks just look tough, but Ivan is really tough. From his front grille to his rear hook, he's built solid. What else would you expect from "Victor H." personal chauffeur ? The rumor that he demolished a subcompact with one drop of the tow boom may sound preposterous, but it's absolutely true. Still, every tough truck has a weakness, and for Ivan it's helping a pretty sports car with a flat tire. All she has to do is give a wink and a shy smile, and he's ready with "roadside assistance"

In Cars 2 Lightning McQueen is racing in the first ever World Grand Prix to determine who's the world's fastest car. But the road to the championship is filled with plenty of potholes, detours, and hilarious surprises. Number 95 Lightning McQueen is still a hotshot racecar, but his rookie days are past him. Now a permanent resident of Radiator Springs, Lightning has become a bona fide worldwide celebrity as winner of four Piston Cups. After his latest win, Lightning McQueen returns home to enjoy life in the slow lane for a while with sweetheart Sally, best friend Mater and the rest of his Radiator Springs family. With a fresh custom paint job and real, working headlights, Lightning McQueen sets off to Japan, Italy and England with Mater in tow for the adventure of a lifetime. His racing number, "95" is a reference to the year 1995, when Pixar's first feature-length film, Toy Story was released. Originally, his number was going to be 57, which is the year John Lasseter was born. Lightning Relampago Mcqueen have been released in Cars, Cars Toons and Cars 2 Diecast series. He's best friends with Mater.
The World Grand Prix Racers appeared in Cars 2. The racers are chosen by Miles Axlerod to promote his new wonder-fuel Allinol. The competition unites the best athletes of all race types from all over the world to determine the world's fastest car. Though there are 12 spots in each race, there is actually an odd number of 11 racers.
In Cars 2, since Mater plays a role in a spy affair, he is added several gadgets, however not as spectacular as those of Finn McMissile or Holley Shiftwell. Since Mater is not familiar with his gadgets, they are activated by voice commands called Deployable holographic disguise emitter: Disguised as the flashing light on the roof. The device instantaneously makes a disguise all around Mater, like "Dracula Mater", "Drag Star Mater", "Materhosen" "Kabuki Mater" and "Taco truck Mater". But Mater has to disguise himself as bad-guy Ivan to infiltrate the lemons meeting being held in Porto Corsa by Professor Z to get info about his boss.
