Beer Bouldering supports Jon Crefeld and the Torne Valley Climbing Coalition. Let me clarify some misinformation that is floating around out there. Not one member from beer bouldering has ever cut down a live tree. There was a dead, rotted out tree that was assisted down to the ground to create a bridge over a creek, that's all. Some dead branches and rocks have been moved to create safe landing areas for all bouldering enthusiasts as well. No different from people camping out over night, moving rocks to create a fire pit and burning dead branches for warmth. Apparently it was the power company that cut down trees along the walls and people think climbers did this, beer bouldering members in particular. These trees were removed so they would not fall on the power lines themselves by the power company (Orange and Rockland Power Company I think). The NY/NJ trail conference cuts and clears dead trees from established trails all the time so one dead tree bridge should not be an issue.

Beer bouldering is also being blamed for bolting some walls which is also not true. I am not aware of who is doing this bolting but I can assure you its not one of our members, we just BOULDER remember? There are also some cocky individuals out there who claim boulderers and sport climbers hurt the environment more so then their trad climbing. My answer to this is that injecting cams into the rock and having them break away at times is just as damaging as placing a bolt and even more damaging than clearing small branches and rocks away for landing areas while bouldering. Check the cocky (I'm better than you) attitude at the door guys, your no better than anyone else.

As far as Internet postings, unfortunately for beer bouldering fans the videos are now listed as private to avoid any further conflict and unwanted attention. I know I know, beer bouldering vids should be available to everyone but this is how it has to stay for now. Sorry folks. If we know who you are and you want to view private videos, leave us a message on youtube advising of such.

Finally, this land has been ravaged by ATVs, dirt bikes, hunting, hunter's shot gun shells littered everywhere, pollution from the thruway, waste from the treatment plant, illegal dumping from the locals, etc. I'm sure beer bouldering will be blamed for this as well so I thought I would bring it to everyone's attention now that it was not us. If we work together and stop pointing the finger at one another, maybe we can get this place opened up to the public. Remember, carry out whatever you carry in and try and pick up any other inconsiderate persons garbage along the way. Cheers, RockFuzz

I hate individuals who sand bag. If your not going to give the problem a true rating then don't rate it at all.
