Kaeding lifts Chargers past emotional Bengals
It was over when ...
Nate Kaeding drilled a 52-yard field goal with just three seconds remaining to give the Chargers their ninth consecutive win. The kick was set up by a 15-yard completion from Philip Rivers to Malcolm Floyd, in which the Bengals inexplicably allowed the Chargers, who had no timeouts, to work the sideline.
Game ball
Vincent Jackson had his way with Cincinnati's standout corners. He found openings all over the field and Rivers found him repeatedly. Jackson finished with five catches for 108 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Key Stat
The Bengals' inability to score touchdowns when they got into the red zone can back to haunt them. They got into the end zone just once in four red zone trips, and that failure to convert proved costly against the explosive Chargers.
Noteworthy
Chad Ochocinco paid tribute to fallen teammate Chris Henry, who died in a car accident earlier this week, by kneeling down and making a prayer after he scored a first-quarter touchdown. ... Bengals QB Carson Palmer had his first 300-yard passing game of the season. ... Chargers rookie Kevin Ellison had his first career sack. ... Rivers improved to 17-0 as a starting quarterback in December.
