Airbus A330/A340 Family Airbus intended the A330 to compete directly in the ETOPS (Extended-range Twin-engine Operation Performance Standards) market, specifically with the Boeing 767. The A330's fuselage and wings are virtually identical to those of the smaller A340 variants, although it has different engines. The A330 basic fuselage design is inherited from the Airbus A300, as is the nose/cockpit section and the fly-by-wire system and flightdeck from the A320. Both the A330 and A340 are assembled on the same final assembly line at Toulouse-Blagnac, France. By the end of February 2007 a total of 680 A330 had been ordered and 459 delivered. ▬▬ F R A N C A I S ▬▬ L'A330-200 est le plus petit membre de la famille gros porteur long courrier A330/A340 d'Airbus. C'est aussi celui qui rencontre le plus de succès auprès des compagnies grâce entre autre à son imposant rayon d'action. L'A330-200 est pour le moment l'unique dérivé de l'A330-300. Il fut lancé en Novembre 1995 sur un simple constat : les compagnies aériennes demandent toujours plus d'autonomie pour des coûts de maintenance toujours plus faible. Dans ce contexte, l'intérêt pour les biréacteurs par rapport aux quadriréacteurs ou aux triréacteurs s'en trouve augmenté: l'achat, la maitenance et le remplacement de deux moteurs revenant évidemment moins cher que pour trois ou quatre moteurs. En Martinique : Il n'y a que les compagnies Corsair et Air Caraïbes qui desservent la destination en A330 , chez Corsair ça n'arrive pas tous les jours (celons la saison) .
