THE RICHMOND YOUTH MEDIA
The non-profit Richmond Youth Media Project, under the mentorship of experienced media professionals, provides a place where young people learn video production skills while producing programs that are important to them and their community. Started as an extension of Richmond High School's Multimedia Academy, the project is open to all young people from Richmond and West Contra Costa County.
MISSION STATEMENT
This goal of this project is to teach young people the technical, analytical and social skills to enable them to use digital media to communicate how they feel about things that are important to them to a wide audience. Through access to digital tools and other resources, and by learning how to produce video programs, students develop a host of communications and critical-thinking skills. And in the process of finding their individual voices, they begin to see a much wider world of possibilities for their future.
