RICHARD GALLIANO QUINTET
"HOMMAGE A NINO ROTA"
Pour son second album sous le prestigieux label Deutsche Grammophon (à paraître le 17 octobre 2011, Universal Music distribution), Richard Galliano rend hommage à Nino Rota, à l'occasion du centenaire de sa naissance (le 3 décembre 2011), dans le plus pur respect de ses compositions originales : des airs de fête et de fanfare, souvent teintés de mélancolie.
Richard Galliano n'a pas oublié le « choc émotionnel » qu'il a ressenti enfant, en assistant à la projection de La Strada de Fellini. La mélodie originale du film, composée par Nino Rota, ne l'a pas quitté depuis.
De La Strada à La Dolce Vita en passant par Huit et demi et l'incontournable Parrain, Richard Galliano a réuni les plus grands thèmes du cinéma composés par Nino Rota, tout en nous réservant deux surprises : 1. il retrouve son tout premier instrument, le trombone, avec lequel il ouvre le disque en solo ; 2. « Nino » une composition originale de Galliano en hommage à Rota.

TRIBUTE TO NINO ROTA (RICHARD GALLIANO QUINTET)
...For his second album on the prestigious classical label Deutsche Grammophon (to be out in October 2011, Universal Music distribution), Richard Galliano received full credit to honour the music of Nino Rota, whose century anniversary is celebrated this year.
The music will be developing mainly around the themes of the movie "La Strada", but there will be some incursionsin some others of the most beautiful soundtracks composed by Nino Rota for Federico Fellini. And the show will open with a surprise : on one of the main themes of the "Godfather" from Francis Ford Coppola, Richard Galliano will leave his accordion backstage and appear on trombone!
Nino Rota is one of the most creative and inspired composers of the 20th Century, he is probably the most acclaimed Italian musician of the modern times, having won many Oscars, Grammys, and other Golden Globe awards.
The most famous jazz accordion player in the world, Richard Galliano, French native with an Italian name and ascendance, will surely conquer the publics all over, with this new genuine adaptation of a fairly rich masterpiece.
