I love Ukraine, but I don't hate Russia, Poland, or the USA. I actually like a lot of things about each culture. It is IMPERIALISM and chauvinism some foreign policy (Putin/Bush policies) from all three that I hate, not the people (unless you are imperialist/racist). I don't accept those qualities in Ukrainians either. I think all three governments need to get out of Ukraine's business.

I'm what they call a LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC PATRIOT. I tend to support the Liberal & European Parties of Ukraine and Ukrainian independence, but not the methods used by those like Bandera. LOOK UNDER MY VIDEOS TO SEE A BALANCED DOCUMENTARY ABOUT UPA/POLE CONFLICT MADE BY A WONDERFUL POLISH HISTORIAN.

I liked Boris Yeltsin (though unfortunately he ran the economy into the ground)! And I think Barack Obama is doing a much better job than Bush. Medvdev and Yanokovych restrict media freedoms too much! Yushchenko and Tymoshenko started out with some good ideas, but had no idea how to implement them and made things much worse, which was a huge loss and shame.

For those who died in the Holodomor-WE WILL NEVER FORGET.

The majority of communism-sympathizers in the west have never lived there for one single minute. The Soviet Union did a good job promulgating an idyllic picture of "brotherly love" among naive people looking for some purpose in life. The two most common elements in the world are hydrogen and stupidity.




Before you judge some of the actions of a culture that has been constantly oppressed and often desperate, try and put yourself in its place.

ABOUT ME: I'm just a proud Ukrainian (with a dash of Polish ancestry) living in America who is trying to keep in touch with her roots, and go back and forth to Ukraine. Am very worried about all of the problems Ukraine has, and the rampant corruption in that whole part of the world.

I speak fluent Ukrainian (western dialect), and English, and I understand some Polish, Russian, Belarussian, and other slavic languages. I'm working on learning Russian more. I'm also picking up some Surzhik and learning Spanish. I love traveling.

I welcome everyone to the channel, as long as you acknowledge Ukraine's culture and right to exist and you are not a radical. All Ukrainians and fellow brother slavs and Eastern Euroepans (who fit the above) are especially welcome. Everyone else from anywhere in the world is welcome too. I do not care what religion you are, as long as you are an open-minded and peaceful person who respects Ukraine.

I support Ukraine, and I also support more friendly ties between all slavic nations, as long as all slavic groups are EQUALLY AND FAIRLY represented and have sovereignty and independence. There need to be closer ties and love between us brother slavs, and less fighting and imperialism.

Welcome all my slavic brothers who are friends of Ukraine!

I also want to state that I have NO PROBLEM with Ukraine becoming closer in ties to any of our slavic/eastern european sister countries, including Russia and Poland, AS LONG AS Ukrainian sovereignty is retained and respected. If you support that, you are more than welcome here!

Polls released on November 5, 2009 showed that about 67% of Ukrainians think the relationship between Ukraine and Russia should be a friendship between two independent states, while 55% of those polled in Russia share that concept.[79]

Polls in Russia in the 1990s showed that an majority of Russians could not accept the dissolution of the Soviet Union and the independence of Ukraine.[81][82][83] Late 20th century there were still members of the Russian political elite that claimed that Ukrainian is a Russian dialect and that Ukraine (and Belarus) should become part of the Russian Federation.[84]

Although a large majority of Ukrainians voted for independence in December 1991 the following years the Russian press portrayed the independence Ukraine as the work of "nationalists" who twisted the "correct" instincts of the masses according to a 1996 study.[85] The study argues that as a result of this the presumption in the Russian popular opinion became that the Ukrainian political elite is the only thing standing in between the "heartfelt wish of the Ukrainians" to reunite with Russia.[85]

Ukrainian history is not treaded as a separate subject on leading Russian University's but rather incorporated in the history of Russia.[86]
