Rhonda Brown, originally from Sydney is a dynamic and exciting artist who now calls Brisbane home. Her journey into exploring her creative potential started many years ago as a young adult and she has gradually developed into a very proficient and talented artist. She has been tutored by quite a few very notable artists and at present has Regina Dolan, a successful artist and tutor, mentoring her into taking the next step in developing her artistic talent. Her love of colour and light shows vividly within her dynamic yet sensitive use of colour within her landscapes as she believes colour and light is an important way of communicating and expressing emotion. The intense dark areas of her painting only adds to the drama and brings the light areas jumping forward to catch your attention. She judiciously uses de saturated colours and balances the whole composition with thoughtful placement of tonal values thereby creating interesting and thought provoking scenes.
Every painting is another adventure for her to further reach inside of herself to discover something new, a new way to create a finished piece of work that invokes an emotional response from the viewer.
Mixing colours from a limited colour palette is an exciting experience as it opens up a whole new world of different hues and tints, exciting vibrancy and endless possibilities in exploration of colour harmony creating an atmosphere that draws both the artist and the viewer into another world of senses.
Oil is her choice of medium and for her the consistency stirs a passion and becomes totally immersed in the exploration of colour and all its intricacies.
She is continually in pursuit of further developing and improving her technique and her use of colour and light from traditional fine art to impressionistic application and will always push the boundaries of her knowledge believing that when one stops learning one will never grow to their full potential. She is excited about the new possibilities opening up for her and is looking forward to exploring all genres from still life, portraiture and landscape and mixed media to add to her gallery.
