This collaboration is with my friend, RevelinginReverie:
http://www.youtube.com/user/RevelingInReverieWe recorded this over a week time span, and it required many hours of editing. I was glad to be able to work on something with her with each of us living a couple thousand miles away from each other. Many people are troubled by technology pushing us further apart, but I think this demonstrates how it can also bring people together.
A friend told me about this song, and I rather like it. The tune is in 6/8 time, and the piano music is interesting and unique. Thanks to my friend for agreeing to sing for the project and to play a bass track.
The tracks include: Piano, Sampled Percussion, Bass, RevInRelerie's Main vocals, and backup vocals she engineered herself.
I thought about adding more tracks to this, but I thought it was good where it was at. The backup vocals really make it stand out, in my opinion.
I played with some effects with my video editing program. That was somewhat experimental, and maybe you'll like it and maybe you won't, but I was proud just figuring out how to do it. I learned quite a bit from this project.
The most difficult problem anyone has doing a project like this is syncing up all of the tracks that are recorded asynchronously. After that, it's easier. Some music programs fortunately are able to match with a beat, and this is actually a note for note beat for beat sync with Ingrid Michaelson's original recording. This requires a beatmapper, and I have to hand it to her for keeping a consistent tempo throughout her recording which made my job a lot easier.
This for me is an achievement in sound and video editing as well as piano. I don't do scripted music very often at all. I hope my friend found it as rewarding.
