About Me:

I got my first gas mask, the SchM41M, at the age of 6. I guess you could say that I have been hooked ever since. As a young kid, I remember that I had to have every action figure that had some sort of gas mask. Back in my early gaming days, gas masks influenced my choices. I remember thinking how cool Half Life: Opposing Forces was, not because of the good game-play, but the fact that the soldiers wore gas masks XD. My very early collection was built on somewhat common masks that I found locally. I sorta stopped buying gas masks at around 11 or so. Now, eight years later, I have taken back up the hobby. The majority of the collection you see has come from my recent purchases in the past few months. I have spent way too much money for my own good... but the subject interests me so I feel that more than compensates for the fact. I think that gas masks are a far-to-often forgotten part of militaria. Collecting masks is a way of understanding a time period, of understanding the technology present within various places at a point in history. I view collecting gas masks as historical preservation.
