Hate to be a dick but without punk rock their would be no metal music. Anthrax loves Discharge, James loved GBH and all of Metallica loves the Misfits, Megadeth did a shitty version of Anarchy in the UK and incase you cant tell by the lyrics are very influenced by punk, Slayer were huge fans of the Dead Kennedys. I'd do a bit up on my research if I were you.
